We are pleased to introduce to you our newest employees at ERIEC: Azumme Degun, Career Mentorship Program Director and Sarah Tangan, Connector Program Coordinator.
Azumme is a skilled talent sourcing professional. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and over 11 years of experience spanning Banking, Government and Not-For-Profit. She has an avid interest in seeing new immigrants settle into Canada. An important component of this process is getting their careers started by connecting them with opportunities and networks. In her role as the Program Director – Career Mentorship Program, she hopes to help immigrants leverage the power of mentoring in their job search while also helping Managers and Employers harness Edmonton’s global talent pool. She is currently working towards a certificate in Career and Academic Advisory at the University Of Calgary. Off the job, she enjoys trying out a variety of cuisine, reading a good book and exploring new places.
Sarah has more than 10 years of human resource experience in the maritime industry back in her home country. She is originally from the Philippines and arrived in Canada and settled in Fort McMurray eight days before the 2016 wildfire. Shortly afterwards she and her family relocated to Edmonton and eventually decided to make Edmonton as their home. As a newcomer, Sarah had been supporting and availing the services of various settlement agencies across Edmonton and eventually became a mentee of ERIEC. Sarah enjoys working with immigrants as she considers it as a way of paying it forward for all the insight and support she received during her settlement journey.
Our new employees bring lots of ideas and enthusiasm to the team; and as former newcomers they are highly motivated to helping professionally trained newcomers to fully integrate into the Edmonton Region workforce.
