In Our Hands: Newcomer Co-operative Entrepreneurship Program

The Rural Development Network (RDN). RDN, in partnership with the BC Co-operative Association (BCCA), Alberta Community & Co-operative Association (ACCA), and Women’s Economic Council (WEC), is working on a project called In Our Hands, a co-operative entrepreneurship (“co-opreneurship”) program that aims to facilitate the development of co-operative enterprises that meet the employment needs and entrepreneurial aspirations of newcomers to Canada.

We are currently looking for immigrant entrepreneurs or newcomers with a business idea, who are interested in forming cooperative businesses. You may find more details of the In Our Hands project in this link.

INFO SESSIONS

We will be having an online info session open to all newcomers to learn more about the program. It will be on June 22nd, 2022, Wednesday, 3:00 - 4:30 pm MT. You can register here.

COMMUNITY CHAMPIONS

We are also looking for more Community Champions with multi-language skills to support with community outreach and translation. This is a flexible volunteer role up to 1-2 hrs/week throughout the In Our Hands program, mostly supporting with translating communications materials, conversing with participants in their preferred languages, and serving as a community liaison. Volunteers will be compensated by honorarium as their services are needed on a case-by-case basis. Please apply here or share with colleagues who may be a good fit!
