Networking Through Volunteering

At the barest minimum, almost every newcomer to Canada will come across these two words: “NETWORK and VOLUNTEER”.

There is usually a drive that newcomers have and with this drive, they want to start doing both almost immediately.

Here is a formula for successful networking and volunteering.

When you join an organization to volunteer, study the organization carefully, ask questions about what the organization does, and what parts of the organization are the most active and most essential for the success of the organizations. Study the rooster of members and the committee structures, be sure that you are joining an organization with people that are ahead of you in your career; they must be people you can learn from and gain from.

They must be people who have the capacity to pull up to higher levels beyond how far than you have so far attained on your own......................

Your job as a newcomer to Canada would be to build up the wildest possible network of influential contacts as you develop your career there. The more people you know, and the more people that know you in a positive way, the more likely it is that you will know the right person, at the right time for the right reason and for the right opportunity.
