Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council (ERIEC) named recipient of 2017 Diversity and Leadership Award by Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers (FACL).
ERIEC is proud to be recognized as one of two recipients of the 2017 Corporate Diversity and Leadership Award by FACL Western. The awards celebrate individuals and organizations who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in achieving greater diversity in their community.
Mentorship and building strategic networks is something that has long been ERIEC’s main to help professional newcomers integrate into Edmonton and Canada. Being recognized for the FACL Diversity and Leadership Award helps to reinforce ERIEC’s mission.
“This is such a great honour for ERIEC to receive the FACL Diversity and Leadership Award,” says ERIEC’s Executive Director, Doug Piquette. “To receive such recognition for our work with internationally trained professionals who come to Edmonton is both humbling and gratifying.”
FACL is a “diverse coalition of Asian Canadian legal professionals who promote equity, justice, and opportunity for Asian Canadian legal professionals and to the broader community”. Piquette says ERIEC’s values align well with those of the FACL specifically in terms of mentorship and social justice.
