ERIEC Executive Director, Doug Piquette: Recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal
Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal recognizes the significant contributions of Albertans.
A new commemorative medal has been created to mark the 70th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada. The Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal is a tangible way for Alberta to honour Her Majesty’s service to Canada.
The Platinum Jubilee Medal program is continuing as planned despite the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and will conclude this February 5th, 2023.
We at ERIEC are so excited that our leader and Executive Director Doug Piquette was selected and recognized to be a recipient of one of these prestigious medals.

“As you have demonstrated exceptional qualities and outstanding service to our province in helping shape our economy, I am pleased to let you know that Alberta Trade, Immigration and Multiculturalism nominated you to receive this honour as a lasting recognition of your dedication and service” reads the letter from The Office of the Minister of Trade, Immigration and Multiculturalism (TIM), Government of Alberta.
The Presentation Ceremony was hosted by the Honourable Minister Rajan Sawhney (TIM) and took place last January 28th, 2023 in Calgary.
“I learned years ago from my parents, that one doesn’t accomplish the “important things in life” overnight; but you can “move the needle” every day towards accomplishing them. Some days it feels like you’ve made a difference and some days not as much. I would suggest that “moving the needle” when it comes to making a difference in people’s lives is always worth the effort. At ERIEC, this is what we strive to do everyday!”, Piquette states.
