Building Bridges to Success: ERIEC’s Information Session with APEGA

Last week, ERIEC hosted an engaging and insightful Information Session in collaboration with APEGA (The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta). The event, designed to support internationally trained engineers and geoscientists, provided an invaluable opportunity to learn about professional registration, industry expectations, and career advancement in Alberta.

With the main Presenter: Enayat Aminzadah - International Qualifications, APEGA and Guest Speaker: Prabhat Chaturvedi – Navigating the Engineering job market, GoA, the session was attended by a diverse group of newcomers eager to navigate their professional pathways in Canada. APEGA representatives shared a detailed overview of their licensure process, including eligibility requirements, academic credential assessments, and how to prepare for the National Professional Practice Exam (NPPE).

Attendees also gained actionable insights into Alberta’s engineering and geoscience industries, including:

  • The importance of building a strong professional network.
  • Strategies for aligning international qualifications with Canadian standards.
  • Tips for integrating into Alberta’s workplace culture.

A highlight of the session was the interactive Q&A, where participants had the chance to ask specific questions about their unique career journeys. Many expressed appreciation for the practical advice offered and felt more equipped to take the next steps toward their professional goals.

We are proud to collaborate with organizations like APEGA to provide meaningful resources that empower newcomers in their professional transitions. This session is just one of the many ways ERIEC is committed to fostering success for internationally trained professionals in Alberta.

Stay tuned for upcoming events and workshops to help you advance your career in Canada!
