After months of applying for project manager roles without success, Isaac began to lose hope in his job search journey.
Everything changed when Alex from the Bredin Centre introduced him to the Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council (ERIEC). Through ERIEC’s Career Mentorship Program, Isaac was matched with his mentor, Yogi Selliah, whose advice completely transformed his approach.
Instead of focusing solely on online applications, Yogi encouraged Isaac to embrace the power of authentic networking. Taking this guidance to heart, Isaac attended a PMINAC (Project Management Institute Northern Alberta Chapter) event, where he met a professional who referred him to a company. That connection ultimately led to his new role as an Estimator—a position perfectly aligned with his skills and aspirations.
Isaac credits his success to the encouragement and training he received from ERIEC staff Shashi and Jacky, and to the guidance of his mentor, Yogi.
“This achievement would not have been possible without ERIEC’s mentorship and support. I’m deeply grateful to Shashi, Jacky, and Yogi for not only helping me secure a job but also for showing me the value of meaningful connections.”
Isaac’s story is a powerful reminder that sometimes the right advice, the right mentor, and a willingness to connect can open the door to success.
