Alberta Wage & Salary Information

The 2009 Alberta Wage and Salary Survey covers over 400 occupations and provides information on wages and salaries for full-time and part-time employees in Alberta by occupation, geographic area and industry group. The Survey can help Albertans make career and education plans and help organizations determine pay scales and develop effective public policy. It also includes information on skill shortages in Alberta.

Directions for Immigrants

Since 2004, Directions for Immigrants has been providing no cost career services to immigrant professionals who are seeking assistance with their careers. Directions for Immigrants has established an extensive network of associations, immigrant serving agencies, employers, licensing bodies’ education and immigrant bridging programs all of whom play an integral role in helping immigrant professionals re-establish their careers.

In 2008, Directions for Immigrants launched its newest service to help internationally educated health professionals. Clients now have access to a growing number of study groups, Career Coaches and workshops all developed to help establish a career in the healthcare industry.

The Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists, and Geophysicists of Alberta

APEGGA has regulated the practice of engineering, geology and geophysics in Alberta since 1920. The Association’s authority is derived from provincial statute. The designations P.Eng., P.Geol., P.Geoph. and Professional Licensee., or a Permit to Practice in the case of a company, assure that legal, academic and experience requirements to practice have been met. They also signify adherence to the high standards and ethics of the professions. Only those individuals licensed with APEGGA can practice or use titles relating to these three professions in Alberta.

The Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta

ASET is the professional organization for technicians and technologists in the Province of Alberta and in the Canadian Territories. ASET was incorporated August 1, 1963.
